Everything was prepared perfectly for this BBQ, just like last year’s wildly successful banger. The same crew was back again for another rager, and this was going to be epic. That was until someone spilled the sprawl of hot dogs and hamburgers right on the dang floor.

That’s how Storm fans should feel after their MVP, Breanna Stewart, tore her achilles weeks before the season was set to start and legendary point guard, Sue Bird, was announced to be undergoing arthroscopic surgery on her knee days before the season starts.

Seattle should remain competitive with All-Star Jewell Loyd, but those are huge pieces to be missing from the previous championship team. There’s a cloud blocking the sun, but it will move in time.

Will it be tough this year without Stewie and Sue? Yes. But you’re a Seattle basketball fan now. And Jewell Loyd’s off-balance threes doesn’t have time for you to be sad.
