Annual attendants of this barbecue know it’s going to overachieve expectations yet again. Sure the house isn’t huge and the aesthetic isn’t flashy, but everything’s been cooked to perfection and the food’s potential has been reached. The guests are having a great time with what they do have and never dwell at what the other, flashier BBQs boast.
That’s the Connecticut Sun, a team without a traditional superstar that succeeds anyway. Maybe this year, without Chiney Ogwumike in town, Jonquel Jones will return to averaging double-doubles and be in the MVP conversation. But even if she isn’t, the Sun are a reliable bunch to make the playoffs.
It’s 75 with a slight breeze at this cookout. Enjoy the weather and the fruits of coach Curt Miller’s genius.
